”Dawn breaks over Masai Mara in southern Kenya, and together with our friends Parmaari, Dorobo, Lekinyout and Kimemia we look out over Masai land from the peak of Leopard Hill or, as the Masai call the mountain, Olokonia.”

ca 100x55 cm 3200.-
ca 150x85 cm, 4200.-

brothers and on their way to their pack of females and cubs.”

3. Brotherhood
ca 85x55 cm 2900:-
ca
120x85 cm 3900.-

”Side by side the three male lions walk straight toward us, round our jeep on both sides and continue on across the savanna. We pinch our arms to be sure that what is happening is actually real.”

4. Enjoyment
ca 55x85 cm 2900.-

ca 85x130 3900.-

”Even a lion can enjoy the morning and life insomuch that its nose becomes heart-shaped!”

5.. The King
ca 85x55 cm 2900:-
ca

”The king of animals - so powerful, so respectable and at the same time with such gentle eyes.”

6. The Queen

7. Simba

ca
120x85 cm 3900.-

”For a year or maybe two he will be the absolute ruler of the pack before a new male takes over his harem of females and cubs. However, the little ones risk being bitten to death by the new male, who doesn't accept fathership of cubs that are not his own.”

8. Mama Zebra
ca 55x55 2500.-
ca 85x85 cm, 3500.-

”Mama Zebra - the symbol of the memorial fund we started for our wife and husband, Ingegerd
and Paul, who both lost their lives in Africa but are always with us. To us, the zebra mediates black for sorrow, and white for light, hope and happiness.”

9. Coolness
ca 90x55 cm 2900:-
ca 130x85 cm 3900.-

”A herd of zebras have found a sanctuary on the savanna - a water hole where they can cool their bodies without the risk of being attacked by hungry crocodiles or stealing lions.”

ca 85x55 cm 2900:-
ca
120x85 cm 3900.-

”A zebra stallion leads his herd of mares and foals to the Mara River where they with great caution quench their thirst after the long walk from Serengeti, Tanzania.”

12. The Prey
ca 85x55 cm 2900:-
ca
120x85 cm 3900.-

”A most unusual sight on the savannah, since cheetahs rarely attack the larger animals. Presumably, the zebra has been injured and made an easy prey.”

13. Protection
ca 85x55 cm 2900:-
ca
120x85 cm 3900.-

”With three Masai around the camp fire outside our tent, there is no need for greater anxiety over having sneaking leopards and hunting lions around us.”

14. Competition
ca 85x55 cm 2900:-
ca
120x85 cm 3900.-

”Out of the darkness come ten Masai dancing towards the camp fire. Their suggestive singing is mixed with all the exciting sounds of the African night.”

ca 85x55 cm 2900:-

“The savanna's foremost charmer, the warthog, comes rushing out of its home in the ground, stops and watches us suspiciously before darting away, his tail straight up.”

16. Kiboko
ca 85x55 cm 2900:-
ca
120x85 cm 3900.-

“A couple of hippos are dozing in the water when we reach the Mara River. But its peaceful appearance is deceptive, as the hippo is actually the mammal that kills the most people in Africa.”

17. Love
ca 55x85 cm 2900.-

ca 85x130 3900.-

“Surely there is no doubt that it is one of the males of the baboon pack who is showing the younger generation his love?”

18. Nyani, 75x85 cm, 3200.-

”The leading male of the baboon herd comes walking straight towards our tent and sits down close to us. We lower our gaze for him to not feel threatened and attack.”

19. Viewpoint
ca 85x55 cm 2900:-
ca
120x85 cm 3900.-

”Small head, slender body, long legs and a long tail all contribute to making the cheetah one of the beauties of the savanna, but also the fastest of all mammals.”

20. Twins
ca 85x55 cm 2900:-
ca
120x85 cm 3900.-

”Two cheetahs who will be full-grown before long look around for a suitable prey when suddenly a third cheetah emerges in the background - in all likelihood, the mother of the two.”

21. Threatened
ca 85x55 cm 2900:-
ca
120x85 cm 3900.-

”Content with a full stomach after a successfull hunt. And by hunting at day-time, when lions and hyenas rest, the cheetah has a greater chance of keeping its prey.”

22. Mothercare
ca 85x55 cm 2900:-
ca

ca 85x55 cm 2900:-
ca
120x85 cm 3900.-

”Almost two milion bellowing gnus have reached the Mara River on their annual migration between Serengeti and Masai Mara. The constant stream of animals heading down to the river fills the air with dusty smoke.”

24. Noa´s Arch
ca 85x55 cm 2900:-
ca
120x85 cm 3900.-

”All of a sudden, the savanna is filled with animals - giraffes, zebras, gnus and impala antelopes. Could they be on their way to Noah's Arch?”

25. The Patriarch
ca 85x55 cm 2900:-
ca
120x85 cm 3900.-

”Eye to eye with the indisputable patriarch of the savanna - a male elephant roughly three metres high and surely close to 6000 kilos of weight.”

26. Follow me
ca 90x55 cm 3200.-
ca 140x85 cm 4200.-

“Lead by the matriarch, the leading female, a herd of elephants pass our jeep only a few metres away from us. We ask ourselves - How can a herd of the largest mammals that walk the earth move so quietly?”

27. Tembo
ca 55x85 cm 2900.-

ca 85x130 3900.-

”Determined to frighten us an elephant comes walking straight towards us, and stops right in front of the bonnet, trumpetting.”

29. Kifaru
ca 90x55 cm 3200:-
ca 140x85 cm 4200.-

”They came here long before mankind, and now we are close to exterminating them. It is no wonder that the black rhinos turn their backs on us.”

30. Majestic
ca 95x55 cm 3200:-
ca 140x85 cm 4200.-

”With a majestic dignity and elegance six giraffes walk away across the savanna. We feel small, to say the least, in comparison to these tallest
of all animals, with legs so long that we would be able to walk in full lenght under their bellies.”

31. Bouquet
ca 55x85 cm 2900.-

ca 85x130 3900.-

”The giraffes meet us like a bouquet of flowers when we come out on the savanna one early morning.”

32. Mama Twiga
ca 55x85 cm 2900.-

ca 85x130 3900.-

”Perhaps it is her beautiful eyes that have given her such a beautiful name in Swahili: Twiga - Mama twiga!”

33. Overlook
ca 85x55 cm 2900:-
ca
120x85 cm 3900.-

”Strangely enough the giraff has no more than seven cervical vertebrae, just like us, and what is even more strange is that it almost never sleeps.”

34. Safe
ca 85x55 cm 2900:-
ca
120x85 cm 3900.-

”Our safari is nearing its end, and we feel an indescribable happiness and gratitude towards having experienced the wild Africa in real life. Asante sana Masai Mara!”

35. Chui
ca 85x55 cm 2900:-
ca
120x85 cm 3900.-

”We had given up our hope of seeing it when we pass a fig tree and the leopard comes darting down through the foliage, stops and fixes her eyes on us.”

Festligt och glatt när utställningen On Safari invigdes lördag 15 mars

Först på planen,

redan dagen före invigningen,

var Kenyas ambassadör i Sverige

Mrs Purity Muhindi tillsammans

med Kenya Airways försäljningschef

i Sverige Riva Jansson.

Vilket är världens snabbaste däggdjur?

Med tävlingsformulären i handen

letade de många besökarna svar på

ett tiotal frågor i hopp om att vinna

en safari för två till Kenya

eller ett spauppehåll i Varberg.

Fotografen fick uppenbarligen

en tackling just som han

skulle föreviga invigningstalet

av Per Caroe,

Kenya Airways skandinavienchef.
